Carbon Offsetting
Carbon offsetting does not take the place of reducing our energy usage that occurs from activities such as driving, flying, electricity use, and processes that use fossil fuels to produce goods and food, as well as, product transportation to our communities.
While we promote conservation strategies for businesses and individuals, we understand that it takes time for people to transition to a low carbon lifestyle. During this transition to stabilize and reduce atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases carbon offsets provide an alternative to address the impact. By purchasing carbon credits we can counterbalance our CO2 emissions and neutralize the net carbon released.
1 ton of CO2 emitted + 1 Ton of carbon offsets = 0 net CO2 emissions. By balancing the amount of carbon released with the amount offset our life styles can become “carbon neutral”. Individuals can measure their carbon footprint by using our carbon calculator to assess their usage. An offset for one ton of carbon can be purchased for $10.
Many of the projects to offset carbon are developed within the local area so that the community directly benefits from purchased carbon credits. This educates and encourages communities to participate in the projects which also provide environment, social and economic benefits to the local people.
